This page lists the standards every Small Tool Shop article must meet before publication, and what happens when we get something wrong.
Our standards
Every factual claim in an article must trace back to evidence we collected ourselves or to a live page we verified at review time. Opinions must trace back to our own test notes. A claim that cannot be sourced gets cut, not softened.
We do not copy or paraphrase text from other review sites. Competitor research shapes the questions we ask; the answers come from our own testing.
AI tools assist with research and drafting. A human editor verifies the facts, owns the recommendation, and approves the final text. Articles also pass an automated language check that blocks formulaic machine-sounding phrasing.
Corrections
Report an error by emailing [email protected] with the page address and what looks wrong. We check the claim against the current vendor pages and our evidence.
If the report holds up, we fix the article and update its verified date. Corrections that change a recommendation are noted at the top of the article itself. Every fix is logged in our internal audit trail.
If the report does not hold up, we reply and explain why.
Conflicts of interest
Affiliate revenue is described on our Affiliate Disclosure page. Vendors never see articles before publication, and they cannot buy a better ranking.
